  • I went out to dinner with my friend Nikki tonight, since she's from the Dallas area but lives in NYC now (funny how we switched places).  I did some Xmas shopping....for myself.    But they had a sale at Club Monaco!!

Anyhoo, we went to dinner at Grand Lux Cafe, which is owned by The Cheesecake Factory.  Everywhere I looked, white people.  To describe how ignorant people are down here, let me tell you what happened at dinner.  I ordered a salad as did my friend who is also Asian.  When the waitress came out to bring us our food, she came back and dropped me off a pair of chopsticks.  Did she assume I'd eat salad with chopsticks instead of a fork?  For some reason though, she didn't give chopsticks to my friend.  Yeah, we both looked at each other like wtf is going on here.  No one else at any of the other tables got chopsticks.  WTF man.

  • Howdy there!

With the arrival of the holidays, we hope that you are enjoying this opportunity to spend time with your family and friends and to relax--giving you the chance to think about what is truly significant to you, what is important.

Ask yourself: Do Asian-American issues appeal to you? Are you constantly on the search for people with whom you can change the world? Want to feel--be--inspired? Without a doubt, VASCON is your answer. VASCON (Vietnamese American Student Conference) is a national conference which aims to bring students together to work for a common cause – our empowerment. Last year, we hosted the very first conference in Austin, TX, whereupon it was a TREMENDOUS success. We brought in speakers like Doan Viet Hoat and entertainers like Pete Nguyen and Bao Phi, rendering the weekend "amazing, inspiring, and stimulating," as many still fondly and devotedly recall. VASCON catapulted change.

This year, by popular demand, Austin will be hosting the conference again at the Omni Hotel on March 24-26. With your help, we hope to make VASCON even bigger and better. If you would like to become involved by being a VASCON representative at your school or by volunteering your time in any way, please contact us: vascon.communications@gmail.com. For more information about the conference, visit our soon-to-be-launched official site: http://www.vascon2.org . Or in the meantime, visit http://www.xanga.com/vascon.
