I haven't had a chance to update in the past 2 months, since so much has been going on. A lot of life changes are gonna take place in the next couple of months.
I had an awesome birthday back in August with CVu at Mastro's steakhouse, which we always enjoy for a good steak. I'm really getting old. I can't party and hang like I used to, and I realized that last week when I was in Chicago. We have a training facility there with the company that I'm with, and the consultants in my company from all around the world come there for training. I met a bunch of good people from our UK, Italy, Netherlands, etc. and all around the US. Too bad they all like to drink so from Mon through Fri morning I was bombed. Drinks are so cheap up there, since we have our own bar on campus. Man, I think that's a once a year event that I get trashed like that.
I've been going out a lot out to Cali lately just to hang out with the misses and company. I really enjoy it out there. Did some hiking with cvu, her sis, and Felix a while back. The weather is just plain awesome, but the one thing I hate about it is traffic. Knott's scary farm was cool. Haven't been to a haunted house in years.
I've also been going out there to interview with some companies, since I think it's time to make the move. It'll be a year and a half with cvu this Sunday
Anyhoo, I got an offer from a company out there and will be based out in LA so looks like I'll be moving out there beginning of December! Just have to wait for the formal paperwork. Looking forward to the big move and some new adventures

I'm back!!! Sucks to be back on the daily grind and sitting in a cube all day long doing mindless work.
So I ended up having some sushi last night with some coworkers, and we went to this Asian fusion restaurant in Dallas. Fusion being another word for really crappy Asian food. I was craving some sashimi, so I wanted to get some chirashi. Looked over the menu, no chirashi.
Waiter comes over and enlightening conversation ensues:Me: Do you guys carry any chirashi?
Waiter: Hmmm...*long pause*
Me: Yea, I saw you had sashimi but I really would like chirashi.
Waiter: I don't think we carry chirashi. What is it? We have sriracha hot sauce though.
Me: Umm....*long pause* Ummmmmmmmm *longer pause*
Me: *LONGGERRRR PAUSE* so yeah, chirashi is just sashimi on a bed of rice, you guys have that?
Waiter: Let me go check with the chef. Sure you don't want the sriracha?Wow.
So I give my co-workers this really bewildered look and we all bust out laughing. I really didn't expect a restaurant that was supposedly a Japanese restaurant to not carry chirashi AND I didn't think the waiter would recommend sriracha hot sauce as an entree. You would think a waiter would know what kind of food he's serving. Wow. Go Dallas!

What an exhausting weekend. Tahoe was great. Had a ton of fun and met some great people. I didn't really get much sleep at all, and the Monday morning flight was absolutely miserable. I ended up getting into an accident over the weekend and almost died!!! Well, almost got seriously injured. It was a golf cart accident haha. When I told my gf what happened, she laughed. I was trying to find my golf ball and went up a steep hill to go look for it. I didn't see the drop and then fell right into a bunker. Luckily, I only bruised my shin. Who gets into a golf carting accident??? At least I can laugh about it now. Other than that, it was a great weekend!

Since I've been traveling down to many of the Southwestern states the past year, I've never seen so many Hispanics before. When I was in Phoenix, I must have been the only Asian person in the Walmart store. Texas has been very much of the same as well as some pocket areas in So Cal. I'm not too sure what to make of this immigration debate that's heated up the past few months.
Generally, there has been the idea that's been floated around to let a so-called "Amnesty" program let illegal immgrants that are in the US apply for citizenship if they've been in the country for 5+ years or so. There's the other side of the debate that doesn't want to see this happen, since they believe that awarding illegal behavior sends a bad sign and will encourage more illegals to try and cross the border. People have even gone to means such as Ranchers add ladders to border fences so that the illegals will stop cutting their fences (though illegals believe this is too good to be true when they find ladders that will actually help them get across, they think it's a trick and people are waiting to arrest them soon after). Some farmers have even electrified their fences to keep people from trying to get through, but they'll just find another way around.
The problem lies in how to deal with this issue. The border patrol budget is severly limited, and there's really no way to patrol the entire US/Mexico border. I think we have some of our priorities skewed when we seem to be dumping massive amounts of our money into Iraq and not really seeing many results. Wouldn't money be better spent securing our own borders, funding money for domestic emergencies to help prevent another Katrina?
I don't necessarily think that all the illegals should be deported, since our economy is so dependent on this cheap labor now and the cost to deport everyone would cause a huge ripple in our economy.
I'm really not sure how I feel about an "Amnesty" program for
immigrants. My parents came here to this country long ago through
legal means, and some of my relatives had to wait 7-10 years for their
chance to come over here. Why would we let people that have come here
illegally have it easier than those that have been waiting around for
almost a decade? Part of me somewhat feels sorry for these people, since they only want a better life, a better life for their kids. I'm torn between what to do on this, but all I know is that it seems unfair to let illegals become citizens before those that have applied through legal means and many are still waiting years later.

Weekend is here....almost! I love having a Mon-Thurs work schedule and we get to come in late Mon. and leave early Thurs for travel. I don't remember the last time I had to work a Friday.
So I was driving back to the hotel a couple days ago and just like typical Dallas, I run into an accident. I've never seen a city with so much traffic accidents. This time apparently a 18 wheeler truck crashed and closed down a highway. How come you ask? Because of a donkey run amuck.
They actually called in a couple cowboys to lasso the donkey under control. Only in Dallas can you find cowboys on horses running around on a highway trying to lasso a wild donkey.
Then I get home and what do I see on the local news, very inspiring stuff:
- Train

Misunderstanding, Not Kidnapping Of Baby 1 hour, 7 minutes ago - Cars
Run Over, Kill Man Walking On Highway 1 hour, 36 minutes ago - Man
Dies In Fiery Crash In North Fort Worth 1 hour, 36 minutes ago - Police
Cruiser Strikes, Kills Man In Wheelchair 1 hour, 36 minutes ago
Good times, yee-haw!
