  • I went to my first American-style wedding aka 'whitey wedding', and it just happened to be in Dallas.  It was the typical church ceremony but something was off at this one.  I've been to a few weddings at churches but couldn't put my finger on what was different at this one.  Oh yeah, I was the only non-white person there.  I got looks from everyone trying to figure out who I was, where I came from.  I think they all thought I was a valet guy or something.

The reception was at a country club, buffet style.  I guess that's how whiteys do it.  All about the buffets as opposed to the Asian style overload of 10-15 courses at a Chinese restaurant.  Again, I was the only non-white person there, and they must've thought I was a waiter.

A few notes I took away from the night:
    - People in the Midwest seem to marry young.  I must've saw half a dozen girls under the age of 21 with rocks on their hands.
    - White people sure love their country line dancing and when they give it a try with hip-hop, they look like a bunch of chickens running around.
    - White girls in Dallas are really snobby.  You open the door for them, and they don't even say thanks.  What happened to Texas hospitality.

  • I hate work.  In the office 15 hours a day for the past week is not fun at all.  Someone shoot me.

  • Man it sucks having to be here on a weekend and working since 5am.  Still in the office and back to work at 7am on a Sat. morn.  Ugg.  Someone keep me company.

  • For some reason, everytime when I get back to Dallas I usually have trouble sleeping the first night.  I've been tossing and turning all night long and haven't been able to sleep a wink.  It's the total opposite when I'm back at home at my parent's place.  I slept 10 hours straight, and the only thing that woke me up was hearing my mom's karoake through the walls.  Perhaps it was the fact that I got to sleep in my own bed.  Funny thing is that my parents just got me a new bed last weekend, and I still managed to sleep 10 hours straight.

It's 5am and the gym just opened up, so I think I'll make use of some of this time and do an early morning workout.  Ugg I hate insomnia.

  • So I went to get pho last weekend, and I asked one of the waiters for some water.  This restaurant happens to employee Hispanics as waiters who don't really know much english let alone Viet.  I think they understand #1 though.  Five minutes later, no water.  I asked again, this time I asked another guy.  I was like water.  He's ok.  So what does he bring back to me?

BUTTER?!?!?!  How do you mistaken water for butter and what would you do with a stick of butter at a pho joint??

Then I got back to Dallas last night, and they've been having crazy weather.  The road in front of my hotel was flooded and cars were stranded in the middle of the street.  Now it's gonna drop down to freezing tonight.  Craziness.

  • I haven't really updated in a while cause quite frankly there really hasn't been much going on in my life.  I've traveled quite a bit the past few weekends and will be traveling somewhere every weekend for the next couple months.  I'll finally have some vacation time in May to spend a week traveling around the country with the girl.

I realized that living in NYC has changed me in many ways.  Some for the better others for the worse.  I think everyone should live here for a year or two at least.  It really changes your outlook on things.  I've grown more impatient with certain people esp. some of those in Dallas.  I'm not used to slow people anymore and at times I miss the hustle and bustle of NYC.  I miss the convenience of it and how you can just walk around the corner to get a good meal 24/7.

I miss my home back in VA and spending time there with the family.  I love them to death but only in small amounts of time.  Anything more than a weekend, and they'll drive me crazy.  My mom suspects that I might make a move out to Cali. at some point, but she just doesn't want me doing it anytime soon.

It's funny when you look at everything in hindsight.  Things become much clearer.  You realize what your true priorities are and what things need to be pushed out of your life.  You start realizing it's the simple things in life that make you happy.  A conversation with a friend at night.  Catching up with someone you haven't talked to in a while.  Enjoying a good meal with those that you care about and love.  You start valuing and cherishing the time that you spend with friends even if it's just but for a few moments.  Time seems to start moving a lot faster the older that you get.

When you think about where you'll be in a few years more often than not it doesn't turn out the way that you think.  For me, where I'm at today is not even close to where I thought I would be.  In fact, I'm in a better place than I thought.

  • Man, it's nice to be back in NYC again.  I miss this place.  Too bad it's freaking in the 20s today w/ possible snow, but you gotta love the big apple.

  • So there goes my computer again.  It just crashed tonight, and I'm trying to backup my files so that I can take it into the office tomorrow.  Piece of crap.  This is the second time in the past couple months.  Blahhh.

I was reading this article in CNN the other day, Stupid Italian Laws.  Can you believe that the Italian Supreme Court ruled that sexually abusing a teenager is less serious of a crime if the girl is not a virgin??  The case was based around a guy who forced his 14 year old stepdaughter to have oral sex with him after she refused intercourse.  Come on now, 14 years old??? Step-daughter?? Gross man.  This is also the same court that ruled that a woman could not have been raped because she worn skin-tight jeans.  You thought some of the laws in the US were bad, think about having to live with that kind of stupidity.

  • So I ended up getting a free steak dinner tonight, since my manager expensed it in.  Woohooo!! Man, I love being a consultant.

Anyhoo, we ended up at a gay bar and he explained to me the little sneaky things that gay guys do to feel up guys.  It's funny cause I was observing all these guys in action and man, they're pretty touchy feeling and hug a lot.  He was telling me that they grab other people's arms to feel how big their biceps are and if they workout a lot, and then they grab people by the waist to see how big their fat roll is.  He was telling me that gay guys brush up against people a little bit longer than normal just to cop a cheap feel.  I never clenched my buttocks more tightly than tonight.  There were mad dudes running around with wigs and tight-ass jeans.  Man, what an experience.

  • So let me tell you how stupid some of these eses are here in TX.  I was in the late night drive-thru at Taco Bell when I had the urge for a craving of crappy tacos.  In front of me is a car taking forever to friggin order.  I mean you would think an ese would know his tacos.  Seriously, it's dinner for them every night.  Anyhoo, the order taker asks what he wants to drink and he's like I'll take Budweiser.  Guy goes, we don't sell beer.  Ese goes I'll take a Bud Light.  Taco Bell guy goes we only carry soda.  Ese orders Diet Pepsi.  Goodness.  He goes up to pay and then starts to pull away but then stops.  Checks his order for 5 mins while my tacos are getting cold.  I honk the horn.  He gives me the finger.  I honk again, but he doesn't pay attention.  I'm scared he might start throwing some guacamole at me or something, so I stop.  Finally, he drives off and I score my tacos.  Man I love Taco Bell, but not as much as I love the free drinks I just had tonight at happy hour.  Big ups to free shots and free bbq. Yee-haw for Texas bbq, that's some good junx man.  Damn being tipsy on a work night is no good.
